Archaeology of the senses does not refer to the attempt of ' reconstruct' the senses and sensory experiences of the past or browse how communities of the past felt like, felt the world and other beings that surrounded them (HAMILAKIS, 2011: 208), nor an attempt to produce a long-term story about mankind's sensory modalities from prehistory to the present. Such attempts would stated since the sensory experiences are historically and socially specific and sensitive arrangements and our bodies are products of the own time we live in and the society in which we insert. It is also not a subdiscipline of archaeology, since the senses do not occupy the same ontological substrate that, for example, pottery (HAMILAKIS, 2011: 208). The Archaeology of the senses also passes by the attempt to reach the sensory experiences of the past, but goes further: seeks to understand how communities of the past produced their subjectivities, their collective identities based on experience; how they lived their daily routines and built their own stories through the sensory experiences of matter, other animate and inanimate, human beings, animals, plants, among others (HAMILAKIS, 2011: 208). In short, the Archeology of the senses seeks to achieve the ' skin and the meat of the world» (HAMILAKIS, 2011: 208).
